User Based Sites[]

  • LXer Linux News - A fully independent news and opinion site, established in January 2004, by Linux veteran Dave Whitinger, a well-known personality in the free and open source software community. Over 450,000 unique users from over 165 countries visit LXer Linux News each month, and LXer is syndicated by Google and dozens of other community sites. CIOs, CTOs, government officials, as well as programmers, system administrators and end users make up their very active community.
  • Linux Stans - A Linux-based website that publishes content about Linux from several authors (accepting new guest authors too). Content about distros, tutorials, lists, comparisons, and more Linux content.

Business Oriented Sites[]

  • Linux Journal -Linux Journal was first published in April 1994 by Phil Hughes and Bob Young, co-founder of Red Hat. Hughes went on to continue publishing Linux Journal for more than a decade, and in 2006, he handed the reins to long-time LJ employee Carlie Fairchild. Fairchild is the founder of Belltown Media, Inc., the current publisher of Linux Journal.
  • Linux Insider- An affiliation to the ECT News Network Linux Insider is oriented towards the enterprise side of Linux and offers a list of readers services and information for people who are in the business side of Linux
