Chakra GNU/Linux is a user-friendly and powerful distribution and live CD forked from Arch Linux.
Chakra features a graphical installer, automatic hardware detection and configuration. Not only does it use the latest KDE desktop, it is pure KDE. and includes a variety of tools. It comes loaded with a complete list of applications needed for a fully functional system.
Birth of Chakra - Jan Mette one of the original Arch Linux Developers expressed his desire to split from Arch tin order to begin work on an independent LiveCD using the name KDEmod. Inspired by Arch and its philosophy, this split would allow a much closer integration of KDE. In February of 2010 plans were made to push the project forward. Despite Jan'spassing, the first build was released in May and the project continues today. In a move to a new direction, development on KDEmod was ended and the "The Chakra Project," was born, " borrowing from traditional Indian medicine and suggesting the idea of continual motion".
The Half Rolling Release Model
Unlike the standard Rolling Release Model, the Chakra Project implements what they call the Half Rolling Release, at the center of this model is a stable core on which other applications can roll.
